Looking for some feedback:
A few weeks ago I did a show at a local "Fall Festival". I tried something new, for me, I used a volunteer assistant for my show. After my open effect I brought out a "help wanted" sign and explained that I was looking for a new assistant to help me for the entire show. I had all of my props that I was going to use laid out on a table and numbered. I picked a volunteer to come up gave and them a top hat to wear. Throughout the show I would ask for prop #1, #2 etc. and my new helper would bring me the correctly numbered prop. I still used volunteers from the audience to do the tricks on. At the end of the show I let my new assistant keep the top hat and gave them a book on magic.
What do you think?

I think that is pretty clever, actually.
The more you do it, the more you'll discover the need for additional pre-show work to make sure you pick the right person...

The idea sounds interesting, but I'm not sure what exactly you tried to achieve with this. Also, was it a kid's show? Somehow, I doubt this would go over well in a show for adults...
