Can any one suggest good material for traing up an Assistant. We want to move away from the type-cast and develop a double act but for now we need more experiance working together.

Mario,

I posted on your original thread - I teach a magician's Assistant School workshop. You can here a clip from an actual workshop on the Performance Coach Podcast at flip-side.podomatic.com and full details can be found at http://www.flip-side.com.

One thought I have had is the study of dance. I don't know some thing like jazz. By dancing together you would also learn posistioning and whole hip of things I am sure. When I look at good duo they seem to be as one together. How can you master that as an art. I have been working on my own for some time so I got a lot to learn.

Go talk some ballroom dance classes together. Also many great duos also have an offstage relationship as well. As a director I also work with magic duos to help them acheive this as well, but the ballroom classes are a great first step...

Oh, and Pam Thompson and Joan DuCore have written a great book called the Professional Assistant's Handbook - available at http://www.yourmagic.com for only $15.00!
