Each letter in the following equation represents the same letter throughout, and each letter represents a different number than any other letter. When solved, the equation is correct. What is the equation?

Nice puzzle, Scott.
It got me thinking about "The Aristocrats."
Jay Marshall says something along the lines of
"It's the last joke in the book,"
as he holds up a copy of a book written by
016972. (Definitely not 35.) 48 you're looking
for a copy, PM me.

Cute stan. Although you're alluding to it (and correctly), no one has posted a solution to the puzzle. Does anyone care to post the actual solution?

Here's the solution:
A=7
C=5
E=1
F=8
G=6
I=4
L=0
M=9
N=2
P=3
MAGIC + CAFE = ELPING
becomes
97645 + 5781 = 103426
Also: 016972 = LEGMAN, 35 = PC, 48 = IF
and Gershon Legman is the author of Rationale of the Dirty Joke
and No Laughing Matter: Rationale of the Dirty Joke (Second Series).
